Vulnerability, Consequences, and Adaptation Planning Scenarios (VCAPS)

Vulnerability, Consequences, and Adaptation Planning Scenarios (VCAPS)

North Carolina Sea Grant, South Carolina Sea Grant

North Carolina Sea Grant not only helps to guide communities through the Vulnerability, Consequences, and Adaptation Planning Scenarios (VCAPS) process, but also provides training for others to facilitate the VCAPS process in communities. The Town of Plymouth, which received a Walter B. Jones Sr. award from NOAA, used VCAPS to identify ways to minimize problems such as continued drainage system deterioration, combined with water-level rise. A current project in Hyde County not only has utilized VCAPS but also is receiving a cost/benefit analysis from partners at Georgia Sea Grant.
