Hameed Ajibade, MSc.

Renewable Offshore Wind Energy Knauss Marine Policy Fellow

Hameed Ajibade is currently a Knauss Fellow at the National Sea Grant Office, focusing on Renewable Offshore Wind Energy.

As a Coastal Physical Oceanographer, Hameed is developing a coupled physical-biogeochemical model to map areas of hypoxia in the Mississippi Sound and Bight for his Master’s final project at the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. During his undergraduate studies, he worked on various geoscience projects, including investigating saline water intrusion in the coastal aquifer of a community in Ondo State, Nigeria. Additionally, he gained valuable experience as an intern at the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, where he led metocean studies in the Gulf of Guinea, among other research initiatives.

Hameed’s expertise spans modeling software, geospatial software, programming languages, and data analysis. He holds certifications in Python and Ocean Data Management. Additionally, he has published research, presented at conferences, received grants, and engaged in leadership roles and extracurricular activities within the marine science community.

In his free time, Hameed enjoys board games as well as spending time with family and friends.
