Indiana aquaculture producers compete for customers with much more affordable imported seafood. Feedback from a 2014 workshop suggested that shrimp farmers needed more information on overcoming technical issues in the industry. Illinois-Indiana (ILIN) Sea Grant worked with shrimp farms in Indiana to determine appropriate stocking sizes of shrimp post larvae and the effect on shrimp harvests. ILIN Sea Grant’s efforts helped eight Indiana shrimp farmers grow their businesses and, altogether, save more than $56,000 in production costs.
