With the direction of staff from NOAA and Virginia’s Coastal Zone Management Program, Virginia Sea Grant extension partners at the Virginia Coastal Policy Center (VCPC) drafted updated narrative enforceable policies for the Virginia program. NOAA asked coastal states to redraft their enforceable policies into an easy-to-use narrative format that is also easier to update than the current policies. Supported by CZMA funding provided by the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program, VCPC convened and facilitated advisory committee discussions to review, discuss and finalize the enforceable policies. The resulting narrative enforceable policies enable federal and state partners to more easily update and enforce policies for Virginia’s coastal wetlands, dunes, preservation areas, fisheries and air and water pollution.
