Connecticut and New York Sea Grant release Long Island Sound Marine Debris Action Plan

Bringing together almost four dozen local, state, academic and community partner groups, Connecticut Sea Grant and New York Sea Grant released a 38-page plan aimed at reducing marine debris in the Sound shared between the two states. This framework recognizes the impacts that marine debris has on coastal and marine habitats, the organisms that live within them, as well as the impacts to emerging invasive species, economic losses and damages to vessels. This plan proposes a collaborative approach of goals, strategies and actions to help make the Long Island Sound free of marine debris and its impacts.
