Sea Grant Scholarship Opportunities

Sea Grant scholarships offer opportunities that provide financial assistance and research funding to students pursuing a career in STEM. 



Sea Grant Program


Aylesworth Scholarship


Aylesworth scholarships are available to students in all Florida universities that participate in the Florida Sea Grant College Program.

Guy Harvey Scholarship Award


Guy Harvey Scholarship Awards support undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full time at Florida institutions of higher education who are conducting research related to the biology, ecology, habitat or management of fish in Florida's marine environment.

Florida Sea Grant Scholars Program


The Florida Sea Grant Scholars Program provides financial support to high-achieving graduate or undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time at Florida universities to support timely and innovative ocean and coastal-related research.

Skoch Scholarship


This $1000 scholarship is presented each year to a Florida high school senior who plans to major in a coastal-related field of study at a Florida university or college. Awards are based on competition in the State Science and Engineering Fair.

Maine Sea Grant Undergraduate Scholarship in Marine Studies


The program is open to current second- and third-year undergraduate students who have declared majors related to marine or coastal issues at any of the participating undergraduate institutions in Maine (College of the Atlantic, Maine Maritime Academy, University of Maine, University of Maine at Machias, and University of New England). The goal of this program is to develop a statewide network of undergraduate scholars doing exemplary academic work on marine and coastal issues and to provide participating students with academic and professional development opportunities.

Dean A. Horn Award for Undergraduate Study in Marine Research MIT Nomination of candidates is by letter from the student's faculty supervisor and must be accompanied by the student's research report. Students are encouraged to ask their faculty supervisor for a nomination.

Stone Lab Research Experience for Undergraduates


Ohio Sea Grant's Stone Laboratory Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) scholarship program provides funding for undergraduate students to take a 5-week course at Stone Lab and conduct research addressing major issues in Lake Erie.

Neil Richmond Award


Oregon Sea Grant funds a scholarship for students attending the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology fall or spring session.

Robert E. Malouf Marine Studies Scholarship


The Malouf Scholarship is awarded to support graduate students who combine societally relevant research with education or public engagement. There are no restrictions on the discipline, which may include, but is not limited to: biological, geological, physical and chemical sciences; marine resource management and policy; legal studies; marine resource economics; social sciences; engineering; geology; education or public health. Oregon Sea Grant awards two Malouf Scholarships annually to one master’s or professional student and to one Ph.D. student.

Carl J. Weston Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship


Wisconsin Sea Grant's Carl J. Weston Memorial Scholarship provides support for undergraduate students working on Wisconsin Sea Grant-supported projects.
