National Sea Grant Advisory Board
The National Sea Grant Advisory Board is the National Sea Grant College Program’s Federal Advisory Committee (FAC). The Board advises NOAA and the National Sea Grant College Program on strategies to address the Nation’s highest priorities in terms of the understanding, assessment, development, management utilization and conservation of ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources.

Become a Member
The National Sea Grant College Program is required by law to solicit nominations at least once a year for membership on the National Sea Grant Advisory Board. Nominations and applications for membership to the Advisory Board should be sent to Susan Holmes via email: email@example.com. A resume or curriculum vitae is required for all applications. A cover letter highlighting specific areas of expertise relevant to the Advisory Board is helpful, but not required. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis.
Our current needs include expertise in federal, state and/or local government, fisheries management, water resource management, social and behavioral sciences, climate, weather and/or meteorology, engineering, and risk management. We are also looking for regional expertise in the Great Lakes, insular Pacific and U.S. Caribbean and continue to have a gap in private sector representation.
While nominations are always accepted, to be considered for current openings, please submit your nomination no later than January 31, 2024.

According to 18 U.S.C. 202(a), an SGE(s) is an officer or employee of an agency who is retained, designated, appointed, or employed to perform temporary duties, with or without compensation, not to exceed 130 days during any period of 365 consecutive days, either on a full time or intermittent basis. Please be aware that after the selection process is complete applicants selected to serve on the Board must complete the following actions before they can be appointed as a Board member: (a) Security Clearance (on-line Background Security Check process and fingerprinting conducted through NOAA Workforce Management), and (b) Confidential Financial Disclosure Report—As an SGE, you are required to file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report annually to avoid involvement in any real or apparent conflict of interest.
